KAMALA: a craft outlet
Realizing the importance of marketing as a means of developing traditional crafts, KAMALA was set up jointly by Crafts Council of India and Delhi Crafts Council. It showcases both traditional and contemporary crafts and textiles from across the country. The crafts are sourced directly from artisans and artisanal groups, many of whom have worked with the Councils earlier and have thus developed close links with them. Innovative work undertaken by like-minded organisations are also showcased at the outlet throughout the year by holding special collaborative Exhibitions.
Quality is paramount to the selection of crafts sold at KAMALA and special attention is paid to packaging and display. An important input which adds value to the products sold is information about the process and artisan- the 'maker' of the product.
All profits generated at the outlet are invested back into developmental and design projects for the benefit of the artisan.
